Despite my general lack of athletic ability, I’m kind of an Olympics nerd. I really enjoy watching them, so you can bet that tonight I’ll be watching the opening ceremony. The costume craziness is just too good to pass up. (My menu will not be as classyΒ as this one, although I now really want this baking gear.)
Anyway, the torch is on its way, so let’s get to it:
- This week’s punny pet names are, yet again, inspired by Olympic athletes: Aleasha Packramone and Tabby Wambach (or, if you prefer, Abby Wambark).
- The games are in London, Eng-a-land, this year, making this post from under the blanket a perfect fit for today’s linkage. (Did you know that London is the first city to host the Olympics three times?)
- Well, this is an entirely new take on the dog eating your homework. (I just love an Olympian with a beloved pet!)
- There will be some dogs looking out for those attending the Olympics. All security should be this cute.
- Maybe your dog wants to get in on the action? Make him this Olympic rings dog toy. If that’s not enough, tell him to check out the Pet Blogging Games.
- Adding Olympic sock catching to the games in 2016? I vote yes.
- I’m fond of (watching) many sports, but I’ll always have a soft spot for gymnastics. (I desperately wanted to take gymnastics classes as a child, but the logistics did not work out. To this day, I still can’t do a cartwheel.) As such, I enjoyed this salute to Olympic gymnast hair.
- I loved this next link – photos of Olympians hugging their parents. So sweet.
- Let’s stick with the sappy for a moment. Check out this list of ten inspirational moments from the Olympics.
- Cheetahs named after Olympic sprinters? Brilliant.
Today’s video is, fittingly, about Olympic athletes and their pets.
Are you excited about the Olympics? What events are you looking forward to watching?
Like you, I love watching the gymnastics, those people are like ninjas that you can see!! Equestrian is next for me and I can’t wait to see if Usain Bolt will win the 100 meter dash again.

Ok I admit to 1) being an Olympic geek myself despite not having the smallest amount of athleticism in my body. 2) getting teary-eyed over the top 10 moments and 3) wondering if I can teach one of my dogs to catch socks. LOL
I’m recording the opening games due to a prior commitment but should be up to speed by the the time it ends. π Love me some Olympics!
I totally got teary over those top 10 moments too – you’re not alone!
Bella steals my socks… not sure she’ll consent to catching them, however.
I’m a total Olympic fan. I love the countries that send only a few athletes or even one to march in the opening ceremony. I get a lump in my throat thinking about what a great world it could be…

I love the Olympics and I can’t wait to get home to tune in to the coverage. Though I am not athlete, there is something about watching others achieve their goals in such a brilliant fashion that just makes me so happy. It’s going to be hard to go to work with all this action on the television.
One of my favourite events is the weigtlifting. Weird, right? But oh so entertaining to watch.

Very cool idea.

That is really cool! I wish the coverage here was a little less USA-centric (and that NBC wouldn’t hold everything until prime time/past my bedtime).
Thanks for stopping by my blog and leave a nice comment!
I love watching the gymnastics, too.
The video did not works in Brazil….
I hope you have a nice weekend.

Bummer about the video!
We are big-time Olympic geeks here. The hubs swam in university and likes to say that his time for the 50 Free was fast enough that he could have medaled – if only he’d been a woman! (But then… if he was a woman, he wouldn’t be the hubs, so “oh well” on that!)
We also love to watch the track events (harkening back to my days when I was a very pathetic hurdler in high school) and we love the gymnastics too.
I wanna play the punny name game too – how about Michael Whelps.
Counting down to opening ceremony!

Hey it’s Jet here.
We’re big Olympic fans, too… Mom is recording now so after preparing tomorrow’s post, she can zoom through commercials! Thanks for the great links, she shared the olympic bakeware on her Kitchen Counselor FB! (thank you.)

I admit, I am not really into the Olympics. I was looking for the America’s Got Talent finale and all I could find was days of Olympic coverage. Without even thinking, I let an “ugh, Olympics” slip out as I was flipping through the TV menu. My Finace was somewhat shocked in a “what? do you hate apple pie too” kind of way π However, I am going to watch the opening ceremony. My Grandma, who passed away earlier this year. LOVED figure skating. She would have been glued to the TV these next few weeks.
