Adorable adoptables: Uniting for dog rescue edition
Last week, I told you about a great event happening today – Bloggers Unite for Dog Rescue. So, let’s get to uniting, shall we?
I’m always impressed with those who are dedicated to animal rescue. Local dog rescue organizations count on volunteers who help by fostering dogs in their own homes while they search for permanent placement, taking dogs to adoption events, fundraising to cover medical and boarding costs, and so much more
Many rescue groups do not have the resources to promoting their efforts on a large scale. As such, bloggers can make a big difference by spreading the word to give these unsung heroes and homeless dogs a voice.
I’ve been a bit remiss in sharing adorable adoptables lately, so I thought I would remedy that today. I’ve chosen three pups from three local rescue groups that are near and dear to my heart: Homeless Animals Rescue Team (HART), Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA), and City Dogs Rescue (CDR).
Why these three? Well, HART is the rescue group where I found my beloved Bella. FOHA is the group I volunteer with right now (attending adoption events and helping with the Twitter account) and where the boys are from. CDR is a great group I discovered quite recently – I’ve been working with them as a volunteer blogger.

Let’s unite for dog rescue!
Well, another Blog the Change for Animals event is upon us. This time, however, I didn’t have to agonize over choosing a subject. Instead, I’m joining with several other bloggers to promote a great event happening on Monday, July 23.
What event might that be, you wonder? It’s called Bloggers Unite for Dog Rescue – BtC4Animals.com has partnered with Blog Catalog and Dog Rescue Success for a special online global blogging event aimed at bringing attention to dog rescues. As you may know, we recently became a three dog household, and all of our pups are rescue dogs. Accordingly, this cause is very close to my heart.
The only missing ingredient for the upcoming event? You! Join us on July 23 to draw attention to the importance of dog rescues and dog adoption. I hope you’ll spread the word about this great event. Make of our paws one paw…
I’m using the term “paw” quite loosely here, as you’ll see…
First, I’m happy to tell you that (currently) the knots in my stomach have loosened a little. I’m still not back to normal, but I think I’m taking steps in that direction.
Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled linkage. Today’s theme? Odd couples.

- You guys. This dog and cheetah are just… Internet, you have outdone yourself.
- In other spot-related news, can someone please explain to me why this piglet looks so much like the aforementioned cheetah?
- Apparently baa-baa-bird is now the word.
- Speaking of things I’ve heard, it seems that chicks really dig cats. (I’m officially declaring this one a trend. You know, because I have authority to do that.)
- Crabs: friends or toys that don’t require batteries? You be the judge.
- This bunny, lion & dog trio are just too much to handle. (But are they Super Golden Friends? We may never know.)
- Next movie pitch: The Fawn & the Hound. (This time, I demand a happy ending.)
- Finally, I’m also a sucker for a good game of tug. This one’s pretty fun.
I chose today’s featured video in large part due to the commenter who referred to them as Rovermeo & Gentooliet. (Also, due to the commenter who made up a punny song about it.) I’m not going to lie, I’m somewhat confused as to how this scene occurred and I’m not about to suggest these two actually get to hang out, but still…

So there you have it… happy Friday! (Unrelated Friday the 13th link: in spite of my rural upbringing, this one is so me.) I hope I’ve made up for last week’s hiatus!
I own all the things!
So, we have a dog bed on our main level that is the twin (aside from color) of the bed Bella has in our bedroom. She loves the bed upstairs, but generally ignores the bed on the main level. It’s really become a site for excess toy storage – she leaves the toys she doesn’t really play with in there and takes her favorite ones to Toy Corner.
In the past, she’s occasionally shown interest in the bed when we had another canine visitor in the house. True to form, when Roscoe and Tavish started sniffing her bed on Saturday, she just had to get in there… hence, today’s post title.
(As you may have noticed, all of my photos of late have been of the iPhone/Instagram variety. Once the pups are settled in, I will happily return to my real camera!)

Post-Puppum Anxiety Disorder
I hate to admit it, but I’ve come down with a case of Post-Puppum Anxiety Disorder (PPAD). Obviously, it’s not a real disorder, so I just made up a name for it. (I did do a quick search, and found a few discussions of post-puppy depression online, actually. I guess mine is slightly different variation on that one.)
Anyway, I’m a bit mortified to be writing this post. After all, the name of the blog screams my desire to have more puppies, and my longstanding motto has been “Puppies = Serenity Now.” Well, that just shows what I know. At the moment, more puppies = unjustified anxiety and a serious case of PPAD. So, if you’ve got your judgy pants on today, I suggest you hop on over to another blog. Now, before you get any bright ideas, I want to clear something up. Although the title suggests that two dogs decided to create a puppy, you’ll find no titillating tales of canine copulation in this post.
