Well, this week’s challenge was a fun one – though in order to get Bella to chase me around, I had to rely on the rope bone. I suppose it was only fitting. It’s the common thread that connects each of our weekly challenges, after all.
I’m sad that K9 Kamp has come to an end… I had a lot of fun. What did I learn? Well, I definitely learned that Bella is motivated primarily by rope bones (although, I wasn’t too surprised by that revelation).
I also learned that I need to work on her obedience and listening skills. I’ve been kind of lax on that front – when you have a dog that’s as low key and easy to handle as Bella, it’s easy to let things slip. However, that’s no excuse…
Anyway, I plan to continue to play lots of tug with my little furball. I hope we’ll be using some of the K9 Kamp exercises in the future too.
Thanks again to Peggy’s Pet Place and Kol’s Notes for inviting us to be part of this awesome challenge!
Congrats on finishing! I am way to lax on listening and command response at my house..sigh.
Hi Y'all,
Since y'all were disciplined enough to finish K9 camp, you'll have no problem doing what my Human does with me each day…take 10 to 15 minutes max in an outing to practice some obedience skills. Each day she picks a different skill. Some days we only spend 5 minutes but we do it consistently.
Y'all come by now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
I am sad that K9 Kamp is over too! Sherman and I had a blast, but we are now in need of a massage!
This is what my Tibetan Terrier learned as a puppy at Camp Dogwood in Illinois. Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIlDfTU5sjk
It sounds like K9 camp can go on by repeating the assignments in sequence. Better stock up on rope bones.
What a beautiful picture in the myrtle or whatever that stuff is. I'm so glad you and Bella were kampers, we had so much fun. I will look forward to your input as we design new challenges for next year. I need to work on Kelly's obedience too. That's a great idea to mix that in with some physical activities.
Congrats on finishing! I know what you mean, our dog Cali is very well behaved, so we let her get away with a lot!
Hound Girl – Me too. I really need to be better about that.
Hawk – That's really smart! I like that idea.
jen – A massage sounds so good right now.
Pamela – I should really buy stock in a rope bone company.
Peggy – I'm not even sure what it is, actually – it was in the yard when we moved in!
Julie – Thank you! 🙂
Good fur you fur finishing K-9 camp!
Woofs and Licks,
Maggie Mae
I LOVE that picture!!!! Bella is so darn cute. 😀
That's so great you did the whole Kamp together! Very inspiring for the rest of us:)
Mom says you need to change the pic at the top of your blog. She can't take it.
Cokes
K9 camp sounds like a lot of fun! That is a really cute photo of Bella in the garden.
Sounds like you've had a good time – my human was too lazy to join in, but to be fair I already get nearly unlimited fetch and tug play 🙂
Sounds like you both had fun! Love that picture of Bella…adorable!
Pat
Kudos to you both for finishing! Mom has been trying to teach us some stuff to help around the house, but so far, we're winning – she's still doing it all!
The Road Dogs
Good job for finishing camp! We tried but didn't manage to complete all challenges.
Thanks guys! 🙂
Bella in the… weeds. Very pretty weeds, though, as Peggy says. Are they weeds you can sell? 😉
Obedience is a challenge like any other– if you survived K9 Kamp, you and Bella can move on to a more cerebral challenge!
Life Student – Unfortunately, they are not money-making weeds. LOL. Apparently the previous owners thought that stuff was more attractive than grass. I have some landscaping work in my future!
