When I was a kid, my cat Buttercup always found a way to get into the space between the two floors of our house. (Is that called a crawlspace? I have no idea.) Anyway, my room had a dropped ceiling… thus, the video below is a dramatic reenactment of what occasionally happened to me in the middle of the night.
Luckily, I don’t think any of the ceiling panels ever broke. Usually the cat and ceiling just landed on me with a mild thud. If only we’d had the Internet back then. I could have been a viral video sensation.
In a way, I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one who has experienced this particular phenomenon. Any others out there? Maybe we can form a support group. At the very lest, share your stories (about house cats falling on your head or other animal-related housing mishaps) in the comments!
(Bonus points if you can guess the song referenced in the title of this post. Hint: it’s from a movie… so, double bonus points if you can know the movie too. Don’t ask me how to redeem these points. I haven’t thought that far ahead yet.)
Oh lord, the worse my cat ever did to me was bring a mouse in and let it go under my bed.
That is one ticked off, freaked out cat in that video. 🙂

That’s not too bad. I actually have a ton of stories about Buttercup, including the time she brought a live bat into the house and then let it go so that it was flying around our living room!
Hey It’s Jet here.
That’s hysterical! OMD! or… should I say… OMC!

If a cat fell on my head……..WELL! I’m just saying…….
I think your title references the song Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head from the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
You see, I’m not REALLY asleep in the living room when the People are watching TV. I’m always watching REALLY.

Nicely done on the song/movie link! 🙂
Oh my! The momma had a kitty when she was a kid who used to crawl up the drapes and sit ontop of the windows… but that’s really it. They were in door kitties, so no half dead animals! She waited a little later in life to find those great presents from ME!

My cat was mostly an indoor cat, but every now and then she’d sneak outside…
When I was a kid a squirrel got into our attic and did this exact thing, burrowed right through the ceiling in my bedroom in the middle of the night. Luckily I was at summer camp at the time so was saved the horror of a rodent on my head. My parents called the exterminator and I think he just caught the squirrel and released it down the road as it came back a few weeks later.
Okay, I’d much rather have my cat fall on my head than some squirrel!
OMD, that’s so funny. I must say, the only thing that has ever fallen on me was a cockroach. And it wasn’t pretty. (The scream heard ’round the world…) It was when I lived in Bermuda, and they have these HUGE cockroaches there that actually attempt to FLY in the fall. And they are terrible flyers. I’d rather have a hundred cats fall on me.
And, yes, I’ll second the “Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head”/”Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid” mention. An excellent movie! With the bonus of watching the oh-so-handsome Paul Newman & Robert Redford duo!

Ew… cockroaches! (Also, flying cockroaches? I’d freak out.)
Well done on the movie/song! One of my favorites.
No one mentioned the truly funniest moment of that video when at 10 seconds someone started whistling, as if the cat would come to him. 🙂 Obviously a sad and deluded dog person.
I am so sorry I’ve had no animals fall on me. However, it was an annual tradition for the Christmas tree to fall on me when my mom decided to move it after decorating. I have the scar to prove it.
I think I’d rather have a cat fall on me.

LOL… yes! You’re so right – that was totally a dog person.
Ouch – I would agree that a cat would be better than a tree! I’ve had some Christmas trees fall due to an intrepid cat, but luckily never on anyone.
I had a bat fall on me when I was a child. It took years of therapy…
Just kidding. I thought it was funny, but I was only 6 years old.

Seriously? How does that happen?
Good grief. I hope seeing that video won’t give Bogey any ideas.

Okay, everyone knows it’s Raindrops Are Falling On My Head (which my Youngest has loved for some bizarre reason ever since she was about 3). But no one seems to remember that it was sung by B.J. Thomas. Then again, you didn’t ask.
I had pigeons land on my head in Trafalgar Square (and poop on me in the Lincoln Memorial), but I’ve never had a mammal fall on my head. My brother’s landlords recently removed raccoons from inside their walls, and patched the hole in the roof that gained them access, but none landed on my brother’s head either.

Love that you knew the artist as well! (I guess I should have thrown that in for triple bonus points.)
Please don’t remind me of the bat incident. I dont think I slept that night Buttercup truly didn’t like me!
She did always seem to do those things when you were over!
BWHAHAHA! I wonder how kitty got into there in the first place?

Haha, so glad to find this and see I’m not the only one!! My cat crawled onto the windowsill above my bed this morning and fell completely flat on my face! Wouldn’t have minded except for the HUGE 2 scratches I now have running down one side! Gotta love ’em!!
Oh goodness!
