Lately, I’ve been working out at home. (I purchased the Insanity workout, which has so far been true to its name.) Tavish seems to think that this is very interesting. He follows me to the basement and hangs out nearby, waiting for his moment to strike.
You see, Tavish thinks that when I’m stretching or on the floor is the perfect time for me to multitask and pet him. I’m going to try to get it on camera at some point, but until then, please enjoy this substitute video of someone else’s dogs making the most of workout time. (These two are bolder than Tavish. He waits patiently for the optimal time to make his move, and he’s never shown an interest in biting my ponytail.)
Those dogs seem like good sports. Tavish would never consent to being lifted in the air like that. He is not the biggest fan of being Sky Tavish (our name for it), unless it’s a necessary evil to elevator him onto the bed.
Do you work out at home? Does your dog try to join you?
I occasionally to Zumba or P90X and Luna does the same thing. She waits near by and waits for the perfect moment. Any jumping though gets her really excited. It’s a really fun challenge to do jumping jacks while dodging dog attacks… not.

Standing exercises seem to invite my dogs to “dance” with us. Sitting/laying on the floor? They’re quite sure we’re down their to play just with them. When we don’t engage (or I should say stop playing with them) they move back a bit and just watch. I’m sure they’re wondering why we’re wasting all that time when we could be playing with them. lol

We used to exercise with mom but we kept tripping her up and stepping on her toes! BOL!

We are Mom’s fitness pals, so we walk and run together daily, but Mom isn’t into the other stuff like a gym. Her arms and other things stay toned from hauling the three of us around, yard work, etc.

Yep, I almost always work out at home. We walk every day for exercise, and then at home I do weights or yoga. As soon as i hit the floor, Rita is RIGHT there, ready to join in. Abby was the best for that though – she’d come stand under me when i’d be trying to do downward facing dog, or bat at my head while doing cobra. Wish I’d thought to get it on video!

I find having Honey jump on my stomach is an instant muscle tightener. Does that count?
I’m an American Ninja Warrior junkie and I saw one guy working out with this therapy dog by hanging off a fence with his dog in his lap while doing backwards pull ups. Perhaps Tavish would tolerate that better?

Yup….I have a Total Gym and Cricket wants to sit on my stomach and ride up and down when I’m doing crunches. Either that or they all just want to lick my face when they can get to me!
