I wish that Birdwalk Empire was a real show. (However, I would suggest naming the main character Ducky Thompson instead of Nucky Ducky Thompson, but that’s just me. Yes, these are the things I think about. Also, I’m beginning to think that my love of puns began with Sesame Street.)
This meerkat is so me. And so Bella. And Tavish. Heck, this meerkat is all of us.
Am I right?
Also, any other baseball fans out there? I’ll be settling in to watch the Braves game tonight. My fingers are crossed that they win the Wild Card playoff game!
As I confessed last week, I’m an Olympics junkie. Maybe I should just embrace it and purchase some Olympics-inspired decor. Or I could rock some Olympic nail art. In any event, I’m just a tad obsessed. So, it’s the same theme, but all new links…
First up, your punny pet names (both inspired by the same gold medalist): Tabby Douglas and Gabby Puglas.
Did you watch the Opening Ceremony? There were Corgis! This roundup of Corgi-related goodness (including photos of the Queen and her pups through the years) will leave you smiling.
On a tangentially-related note, includes two very adorable Corgis.
Finally, I’m also a sucker for a good game of tug. This one’s pretty fun.
I chose today’s featured video in large part due to the commenter who referred to them as Rovermeo & Gentooliet. (Also, due to the commenter who made up a punny song about it.) I’m not going to lie, I’m somewhat confused as to how this scene occurred and I’m not about to suggest these two actually get to hang out, but still…
So there you have it… happy Friday! (Unrelated Friday the 13th link: in spite of my rural upbringing, this one is so me.) I hope I’ve made up for last week’s hiatus!
Lucky for me, I usually work from home on Fridays… which means that I can take Bella to work with me today without having to actually take her anywhere. Given that Bella gets carsick in a rocking chair, this situation is ideal. We’ll have our own version of Paw-fice Space right here at home – Bella takes her Floor Patrol duties very seriously.
Today’s punny pet names take their inspiration from 9 to 5: Polly Parton (for a bird), Dane Fonda (for a Great Dane pup), and Gilly Tomlin (for a fish).
Oh, I can’t help myself. Here are a few more: Molly Parton (for a fish), Jane Fawnda (for a deer), Lily Tomcatlin, and Billy Tomlin (for a goat).
Next, check out this great slideshow of dogs participating in today’s festivities.
Among the offices celebrating Take Your Dog to Work Day? The gang at Richmond International Raceway. (I bet Bella’s glad that I don’t work there!)
Over at Peggy’s Pet Place, Kelly the pup has taken to the keyboard to tell us about her canine career.
The Poodle and Dog Blog gets into the act with this interesting story and clever post title: Dog on a Hot Thatched Roof.
Wondering how to work out the logistics of bringing your dog to work? Never fear. The Pet Health Care Gazette has some great tips.
Sure, it sounds cute… but should we be concerned? Will human workers soon be replaced by a cadre of clever canine professionals? It’s happened before.
That deep thought brings us to today’s video. This dog seems to love his job more than most people I know.
Don’t worry cat lovers, I haven’t forgotten you. Bunny’s Blog tells us all about taking your cat to work.
In the spirit of full disclosure, I confess that I sang “9 to 5” the entire time I was writing this post. It’s going to be in my head all day now. It’s enough to drive me crazy if I let it. (See what I did there?)
So, tell me… have you ever taken your dog (or other pet) to work?
Perhaps I should have called this post Make Way for Ducklings. Here’s another item of duckling-related cuteness: a Labrador adopting an orphaned duckling.
We moved into this house in the winter of 2009. This marks the third spring we’ve spent here. The past two years were fairly uneventful. However, here in 2012, things have taken a puzzling turn. Before I get too far into it, I should warn you that this post is a long one. I promise I’ll try to make it worth your while…
For some reason, the neighborhood birds have decided that my house is a problem that needs to be pecked out of existence. It’s like living in a live-action version of Angry Birds. The siege began in April, when this little bird decided that the shiny plate on our front door was looking at him (or her) funny.
I’m in a penguin mood today. It happens from time to time. Guess I just can’t resist a bird that comes equipped with built-in formal wear. (Wouldn’t a penguin make a great prom date?) Anyway, on to the links!
First up, the traditional sharing of a punny name. Today, I give you: Penguin Stefani. (Bonus: Penguinona Ryder. See #2.)
Also, I have decided I want to remake Heathers using an all-bird cast. The Heathers will be played by penguins (including renowned feathered actress Shannen Do-birdy). I’ll be calling it Feathers. Obviously.
Here we are… my 404th post (and not, as previously predicted, my 502nd). No matter. Live every day like it’s your 500th post, right? Or something…
Anyway, confusing numbers aside, here are your squeaky clean links for this week’s No Frown Friday:
Your punny pet names for this week: January Bones (for a dog), Christina Findricks (for a fish) and Elizardbeth Moss (self-explanatory). Can you tell I’m ready for Mad Men to come back?
Speaking of Mad Men, Jon Hamm’s birthday is tomorrow. Here’s your present. (Proposal: I think that we should celebrate Jon Hamm’s birthday by giving presents to each other. It will be like Christmas, but we celebrate the birth of Jon Hamm instead. Who’s in?)
I have decided to start using the phrase “Tiny leaping goats!” to express my surprise. You’re so over, Heavens to Betsy.
Have you ever wondered how a puppy is like an old man? Now you know.
This photo is awesome. On a related note, 3 people have found my blog by searching for “corgis in space” – I had to giggle. This factoid inspired me to Google “corgis in space” (the situation is very meta), and I found a tumblr dedicated to the subject. Full circle.
Tiny leaping goats! I have a feeling that this dog and I would understand each other perfectly, based solely on our Type A personalities. (I realize she might just be cooling off, but in my mind, she’s the Monica Geller-Bing of the canine set.)
I love how she just owns it: “That’s right. I’m cleaning my ball, and it’s awesome. Deal with it.”
Finally, you know I can’t resist a little shameless self-promotion… but this time it’s for a good cause! A friend and I have teamed up to start a new blog dedicated to ovarian cancer awareness. It’s called Sisterhood of the Whispering Crowns, and I hope you’ll check it out. (You can also follow us on Facebook and Twitter.) Stay tuned for more, including the story behind that name – you know you’re curious.
Speaking of sweets, I finally updated my oft-neglected cupcake blog. Check it out!
Apparently I’m all about the food today… let’s tie it all together. Meet the world’s most patient dog at the Food On My Dog blog.
Another awesome tumblr site? T-Rex Trying. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I think this one might be mine. (Thanks to Hey, Love for sharing this one!)
