I took this one using my iPhone (Instagram with the black & white filter). Tavish was downstairs with the Hub, so I took the opportunity to sneak Bella up on the bed for some snuggle time. Obviously, I wasn’t going to disturb her to go get the DSLR!
We moved into this house in the winter of 2009. This marks the third spring we’ve spent here. The past two years were fairly uneventful. However, here in 2012, things have taken a puzzling turn. Before I get too far into it, I should warn you that this post is a long one. I promise I’ll try to make it worth your while…
For some reason, the neighborhood birds have decided that my house is a problem that needs to be pecked out of existence. It’s like living in a live-action version of Angry Birds. The siege began in April, when this little bird decided that the shiny plate on our front door was looking at him (or her) funny.
As you may or may not know, I love to share a good video on Earth Day. Last year, I featured a dog kissing the world. (Earth Day also fell on a Friday last year, so it was perfectly timed for a linkathon.)
This year, I’m digging the video I shared on Earth Day 2010 out of the archives – I had just started the blog a few weeks before. Given that I probably had one reader then (counting myself), I figured it was worth sharing again.
So, without further ado, I give you my hero…
To borrow from myself, here’s what I said last time. I think it still applies:
“Captain Pug. He’s my hero. Going to take pollution down to zero. He is cuteness magnified, and he’s fighting on the planet’s side. (Hat tip to Captain Planet for infiltrating my brain for decades.) I mean, seriously… how cute and well-trained is this pug? Also, if anyone knows how I can join that dog’s carpool, please let me know. Best. Commute. Ever.
Earth! Fire! Wind! Water! Heart! Puppies! By your powers combined, he is Captain Pug, the cutest superhero ever.”
As a bonus (and so that I’m not just repeating myself), enjoy these photos I took at the National Zoo yesterday. Lions and flamingos and birds, oh my!
We’ve already covered dogs (and rocks and Corgis and Ryan Gosling) in space on this blog. Today, we’re just talking about dogs… and then talking about space.
First up, a Bella glamour shot. (Better than these glamour shots, right? Fun fact: I used to work in a one-hour photo joint and occasionally helped out with glamour shoots in our small town portrait studio.)
Anyway, I just love this photo of Bella. I think it’s the ears…
Speaking of photos, it was a big day in DC yesterday. The space shuttle Discovery was flown over DC on the back of a 747 before landing at Dulles International Airport in northern Virginia. The shuttle will soon be on display at the the National Air and Space Museum’s Udvar-Hazy Center. It was a bittersweet day, but it definitely made for a cool photo op.
People all over the DC metro area were outside, trying to catch a glimpse of Discovery. Here’s one of my photos from the big day – if you want to see more, check out my set on Flickr.
I think Bella is getting a little too into this whole Easter thing. Although I must admit, she does have the ears for it.
Also, I said it last year, but it bears repeating… rabbits are not Easter toys. Spread the word and encourage people not to give live bunnies (or chicks, ducklings, etc.) as Easter gifts. Stick with chocolate or a snuggle-worthy stuffed animal. As you can see, Bella has approved the content of this message.
Totally awesome, right? This guy was part of the Mutts Gone Nuts show at the Super Pet Expo a few weeks ago in Chantilly, Virginia. It was definitely fun to watch. Even better – all of the canine performers are rescue pups!
Anyway, I am very excited about the weekend ahead. Dinner with old friends tonight, more March Madness… not to mention The Hunger Games and Mad Men. Lots to enjoy! For that reason, today’s post has a simple, not-so-much-a-theme theme: stuff I love!
Your punny pet names: Catnip Everdeen, Peeta Mebark, Primnose Everdeen, and Gale Pawthorne.
A few things I love: Downton Abbey, Mad Men, and puppies. It’s hard to decide which is more awesome – imagining the characters of Downton Abbeyas different dog breeds (Dogton Abbeylives!) or comparing them to the cast of Mad Men.
I’m planning to see The Hunger Games this weekend. (Have you read the books? I am always searching for more people to chat with about them, as I have thoughts… lots of thoughts.) Speaking of both games and hunger, these cakes are awesome.
The love doesn’t stop there… I love this song, which I happened to hear on the radio yesterday. It’s been ages since I last heard it, but it’s perfect for the dog lover!
There are many things to love about the following video…
