Today, I thought I’d share a classic Bella photo with you, circa 2004. Obviously, Bella did not approve of the fact that I was giving her a bath. Her (completely unintentional) comic timing was impeccable, however:
Don’t forget – you can vote for Bella daily in the Dogs of Blogville calendar contest, should you feel so inclined. She’s barely hanging on to a spot in the top twelve…
On Saturday, a friend and I decided to check out a local antiques fair. I wound up coming home with a few items, but my favorite just so happens to have a puppy theme.
Have you ever heard of push button puppets? Essentially, they are jointed and held together by a string. When you push on the base, they dance! I used to play with them when I was a kid, and I was thrilled to find some for sale.
Meet the menagerie…
Once I saw them, I knew that they had to be mine. Check out one of them, henceforth known as Push Button Puppy, in action:
I mean, come on. Awesome. Anyone else remember these guys?
It’s time for another Friday link roundup. Today’s theme? Video games.
(Before we get started, however, a quick disclaimer. Looking back, I’m mildly horrified that I played a video game in which the objective was to shoot computerized ducks. However, I do have a certain fondness for that laughing dog. I can’t help it.)
First up, this week’s punny pet name: Carmen Sandi-dog-o.
Speaking of puns, this blog is filled entirely with recipes bearing punny titles of the legal variety. It is therefore amazing. I rest my case.
Today’s video reminded me of that old Mortal Kombat game. (Or maybe Punch Out, although this video is more akin to a boxing game.) (On a tangentially related note, I now want to start a band and name it Mortal Wombat.) (On a note related to that tangentially-related note, a Google search quickly revealed that I am far from the first person to utter that pun.)
Have anything fun planned this weekend? I’ve got a few things on my to do list, the least exciting of which might involve laundry. Wild and crazy? Check.
It’s always hard to go back to work after a long weekend. Why not ease in with a few fantastic posts? For June’s monthly roundup, I thought I’d try a different theme…
Cue the Snoopy Come Home music…
Just kidding. Today, I’m sharing fifteen posts that made me smile last month. Get to clicking and find some post-holiday cheer! Continue reading →
Never underestimate the enjoyment you can get from occasionally reading your spam comments. I know – we’re all pretty busy, and it’s hard enough to find the energy to check to see if a real comment was mistakenly imprisoned in spam jail.
Fairy tales are on my mind this week thanks to this wonderful post: Six Fairy Tales for the Modern Woman. (I rarely say this, but even the comments are worth reading. The whole page is full of win.)
It’s BlogPaws weekend! In the spirit of pet blogger unity, I thought it was the perfect time to share another meow mix link roundup, inspired by F. Scott Fitz-feral:
I didn’t finish today’s No Frown Friday post yet… and now I have house guests. So, while I’m off enjoying their company, I figured I’d make it up to you by sharing tomorrow’s post today. (Yes, tomorrow’s post was done before today’s. I rarely manage to do things in a linear fashion.)
In the meantime, here’s a fun fact: when you search YouTube for “star wars sheep” (as I’m sure everyone does from time to time), this video also comes up:
I mean, it’s not really about sheep, so we’ll just classify it as what Bob Ross would have called a “happy accident.”
Today, Petfinder is encouraging bloggers to talk about how awesome cats are. Now, don’t tell Bella and Tavish, but I happen to agree. My first pet was actually a pretty cool cat named Buttercup.
Fun fact: pom-poms can double as a cat bed
So, in honor of Buttercup and awesome cats (and cat lovers) everywhere, today’s links are feline-focused. Enjoy some kitty cuteness, and then get out there and adopt a cat! (Let me assure you – I would happily do so if Bella and Tavish were not champion cat chasers. Maybe they need to read this post.)
What should you name your new cat? Here are some punny pet names to get you started: Meowie Long, Rachel Scratch, and Meoward Stern.
There are many reasons to adopt a cat. For example, do you need of a skilled goalie in the house?
Seriously though, in spite of all of the silly reasons I listed above, there’s only one reason you really need to know. Cats are awesome.
Also, I give a huge thumbs up to any animal that gives me a reason to make a Lionel Richie reference.
Hello, is it an adorable kitty you’re looking for?
If so, head on over to Petfinder and search for an adoptable cat near you! Then take lots of photos and tell everyone else you know why adopting a cat is the best. The Internet is sorely lacking in cat pictures, after all.
